FAQ
How many entries can I purchase?
There is no limit to the number of entries you may purchase.
What will the proceeds be used for?
Proceeds will be used to support Shawnee Trail Cycling Club and its stated mission of Education and Community Involvement.
Is the raffle ticket purchase tax deductible?
The cost of a raffle ticket is not deductible as a charitable contribution. The IRS considers a raffle ticket to be a contribution from which you benefit. If you receive a benefit from making a donation, you can only deduct the amount of your donation that is greater than the value of the benefit you receive. The IRS explicitly prohibits deducting the cost of raffle tickets as a charitable contribution, presumably because it does not consider the cost of the ticket to be greater than its benefit.
What if I win and do not want the bicycle?
Richardson Bike Mart will offer you the option of converting the value of the bicycle to a store credit to be used as you wish to purchase merchandise.
You may also decline acceptance of the bicycle and donate it back to STCC
Is the prize taxable to the winner?
You may need to report this to the IRS. STCC will provide you the necessary information with your prize.
How will the winner be selected?
Each entry purchased will be identified by the order number assigned by the STCC club store at time of purchase. Multiple entries purchased in a single order will be assigned the same order number and recipient, but will have multiple chances to win (eg. 3 entries purchased will result in 3 chances to be selected as the winner for that order number). There will be a random drawing held after the close of the raffle to select the winner.
When will the winner be selected?
The winner will be selected by random drawing on April 15, 2020.
