There is a definite difference between a “beginner” and a “novice”. Fill the group in on some very heavy discussions we had with someone that tried to join our Sat group 3 or 4 years ago. The person was a beginner, just learned how to ride their bike and it got so unsafe (including legal threats) that we had to ask them not to return.
A Novice cyclists, in the way the most groups including STCC use the term, is one that knows how to handle their bike, but needs definite improvement in skills and group riding.
There’s a place for beginning cyclists, but unfortunately we don’t currently have an offering.
