This page will be the central point for STCC committee members to communicate and exchange ideas regarding safety and access for biking (walking, running) in North Texas. Some ideas may be shared with general membership and elsewhere, but otherwise this is between committee members.
This illustration from Cycling UK does a very nice job of listing some of the major things cyclists NEED. Our job on this committee will be to prioritize these needs in North Texas (NTX) and socialize ideas of constructive pursuit of solutions. Remember that every location is different and its likely that fundraising methods in other locales (eg. United Kingdom and Europe) may not work here. Even within the North Texas region, finding funds from city to city may have a very different look and require residents to walk a fine line when chasing funds for Bike/Ped.
We also don't want to forget that a substantial piece of our safety relies on us as cyclists. Recommendations on education and handling misbehaving groups outside STCC will be a must.
Our initial focus for this group will be to document an overall mission for this group (within what has been approved by the Board) and start to define achievable goals.
