Terminology

Here are some definitions used across this website.  Some of these are common terms and others are specific to Shawnee Trail Cycling Club.

Go Zone - refers to segments of our routes that we allow the group to disperse a little and stretch their legs, going as fast or as slow as you like with a regroup point at the end.  These are stretches of road that are generally open with lighter traffic.  These zones should be pre-announced by your Ride Leader.

Yellow Zone - segments of our routes that pass through neighborhoods with potentially hazardous conditions.  All STCC cyclists should stay below 24mph in these designated areas.  These areas are driven by the local community and conditions on the road, including golf cart and pedestrian crossings.  Regardless of the posted speed limit, group reaction to a person, golf cart or vehicle entering the road is much different that a car.  These zones should be pre-announced by your Ride Leader.
