Ride Rating - 5 (Novice)

To help you make the “good choice” when selecting a Shawnee Trail Cycling Club ride, we have made an attempt to rate each ride based on a combination of factors.  We have selected what we consider the most important criteria, including pace, distance and terrain.

Please take into account that these ratings are based on someone of average fitness.  If your fitness is above or below the average participant, you may find these rides much easier or far more difficult to complete.

For example when looking at the Saturday CPS C pace group, it has a pace of C (3) + a distance of 45mi (4) + rolling hills throughout the ride (5) for a total overall rating of 12

Description

3-cities-Novice-christmasWe hope you’ll join us this Saturday (and every Saturday) for our official ride for those that are new or infrequent cyclists and want a pace and distance that’s designed for you to enjoy and grow.

The routes are approximately 20 miles with an average pace of 10-14 mph, dependent on the composition of the group.  The routes are designed with minimal hills and traffic, making for a ride all can enjoy.  If you want to pull your children in a trailer, they're welcome as well as long as you can maintain the 10-14 mph average (please, no animals in trailers or otherwise).

You say you don’t know what an “average pace” is?   That means that when you get to the end of your ride, with all the faster downhills and slower uphills, stop signs and anything else you might encounter – you have averaged that 10-14 miles per hour.  If you're still not sure and want to know more about group rides and using the bicycle on our streets and roads, we recommend you attend one of our monthly GRO (Group Ride Orientation) classes.

Our rides are ALL no drop, from the slowest paced to the fastest. We never leave anyone behind, so if you find yourself in distress, you’ll look over and have at least one member by your side to ensure you get home safely.

As our club has grown, we’ve seen a distinct need for this pace ride to introduce group cycling and use of our streets to an ever increasing number of cyclists - Come Ride with Us!

You’re not required to be a member of Shawnee Trail Cycling Club to ride. All you need to do is bring your bike, your helmet and a smile – we’ll help you with the rest.

Visit often or follow us on Facebook and Twitter to find out what the big fuss is all about.

Who can Ride, ANYONE that can keep the average pace of our group! All Shawnee Trail Cycling Club rides are open to ALL cyclists - member or non-member. If this ride is for you, come try us out!!

Pace,10-14 mph. This is an overall ride average and speeds may exceed or fall below the advertised pace at points during the ride.

Follow updates on our club forum and facebook pages

Note: ALL Shawnee Trail Cycling Club rides are "no drop". This means we will ensure that everyone gets an escort home. If you become distressed on one of our rides, we may send the rest of the group ahead and help you in - no cyclist intentionally gets left behind.

Start Location

The CPS, Novice and Bridge rides all start from the parking lot of the Frisco ISD Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC), 9889 Wade Blvd, Frisco, Texas.  See the map below for an overview of our assigned area.

Be respectful, no trash and park to the far north side so as not to interfere with anything going on at the center.  Remember, we are guests here.  Only park in the designated areas.
