National Bike Challenge 2015

Its official! If you live in Collin or Denton Counties,Shawnee Trail Cycling Club  is your local host for the National Bike Challenge 2015!

The National Bike Challenge  is a nationwide event held each year, now operated by PeopleforBikes.org . This event is free and allows cyclists at all levels to record miles ridden and participate in a friendly competition against other cyclists, teams, communities, schools, counties and states.

In our hosted area, there are approximately 1.5 million people and it includes the cycling centers of Corinth, Denison, Denton, Frisco, Lewisville, Sherman, Muenster, McKinney and Plano – not to mention many, many others. We’re encouraging your clubs and organizations to form teams (or just start one for you and your friends) through the National Bike Challenge website and then let the competition begin. Our goal for the local challenge is 1,000 cyclists – do you dare?

You’ll be ranked by points – 20 points for every day you ride and 1 point for every mile. The points will add up quickly! There are prizes to be distributed at the national level and we may even have some surprises locally.

To log miles with your GPS device, you can use Strava, Endomondo, Mapmyride or Movers. You can also manually enter the miles you’ve ridden – don’t cheat, there are rules

The contest runs from May 1, 2015 through September 30. You can sign up now and begin entering miles.
